Crafting Something New for Allies of Skin, A Branded Umbrella

Responsible for our Sunless Tan PR that would be sent out to hundreds of tastemakers and micro influencers alike, I had to get really, really creative with a 12K budget.

When you include sourcing, production, internal resources, product, and shipping, the budget tightens quickly. However, I managed to only spend 6K, half of the requested amount. Let’s talk about how I did this in an elevated, efficient way.

Deciding to batch our “Sunless Tan” initiative, I wanted to seamlessly gift our best products and merchandise items to protect our community in the summer against harmful UV-rays.

I decided to include our The One SPF with our Sunless Tan in our exclusive metallic “Good Skin is in The Bag” pouch and a branded hat, tote, and never-before-done umbrella. Working with Jacky Yoon and Sean Sharifi, we created a staple.

Not only did the umbrellas reach hundreds of our Allies community, but they were in the hands of Jeannie Mae at the Gold House Gold Gala Event celebrating AAPI excellence across fashion, beauty, tech, and more. They served as a perfect shade source in California sun.
